EA Sports UFC 6: The Ultimate Fighting Experience (2026)

EA Sports UFC 6: A Review of the Bloody Journey

The world of mixed martial arts (MMA) is a brutal and unforgiving arena, where every punch, kick, and submission tells a story. In the latest installment of the EA Sports UFC series, 'UFC 6', players are invited to step into the octagon and experience the violent art of MMA like never before. But is it a realistic portrayal of the sport, or just a gimmicky attempt to capture the excitement?

Personally, I think 'UFC 6' is a step away from the sport's reality, with its new 'Flow State' feature feeling manufactured and out of place. While I appreciate the effort to add a layer of interactivity, the flow is more like a Street Fighter move dropped in the middle of the octagon's bloody canvas. It's hard to take a feature like this seriously when it's so gimmicky and doesn't feel like a natural part of the fighting experience.

However, the game does have its moments, especially in the 'Hall of Legends' mode. This mode allows players to immerse themselves in the lore behind three legendary champions, Max Holloway, Alex Pereira, and Zhang Weili. The interactive museum and highlight fights are a welcome addition, and the Flow Boost feature adds a fun twist to the fights. It's a great way to experience the iconic moments of MMA history, and I was able to recreate the last 20 seconds of Max Holloway's BMF title win against Justin Gaethje in 2024, which was a thrilling experience.

The Career options in 'UFC 6' are also more entertaining and less repetitive than in the previous game. The separation of the 'The Legacy' story from the UFC Career mode is a welcome change, giving players more options and a better onboarding experience. The rivalry between the fighters is well-established, and the pre-fight events demand your attention, making the mode more engaging and less repetitive.

However, we're still only in round three of a five-round bout. I've got a lot more to see before I finalize this review, including 'The Gym' mode, which seems to be about collecting fighters and training them to unlock specific cosmetics. I'm also looking forward to exploring the online modes and seeing how the Flow State feature impacts the fights there. So stay tuned, because this one isn't ending in a stoppage, and all three judges (me, myself, and I) will be ready to give their unanimous decision later this week.

In my opinion, 'UFC 6' is a step away from the sport's reality, but it's still a fun and engaging game. The new features and modes add a layer of interactivity that is welcome, and the story-driven Career options are a great way to immerse yourself in the world of MMA. So, while it may not be a perfect representation of the sport, it's still a bloody journey worth taking.
